World Countries Part 3

Algeria

In the third part of the world we will find out more about Algeria.

1. Algeria is currently the largest country in Africa. Prior to that, the largest was Sudan before the secession of Sudan in 2011. Its land area is 2,381,741 Km2. And it\’s capital city is Algiers.

2. It is one of the countries in Africa that went through the French colonial rule and had a great influence during the colonization of this country and gained their independence in 1962.

3. The population of this country is 44 million. The country is headed by Abdel Madjed Tebboune.

4. Before independence, this country had a long history of world domination such as the Nomidians, Romans and Ottomans and many others.

5. Algeria\’s military is one of the largest and most powerful in Africa.

6. The country has competed in the International Olympic Games since 1964 by winning up to 5 gold medals.

7. This country is 80 percent desert where most of the temperature rises. The highest temperature peak was reached 51c in 2011.

8. It is a very economically advanced country but its people are poor. That depends on how the country’s resources are utilized and how it is distributed.
